NAR's Green Designation

Green real estate is altering fundamental market dynamics and consumer interest. The long-term cost savings, health impact, and durability associated with green homes continue to shape the real estate market.

NAR’s Green Designation demonstrates how real estate professionals can increase their incomes by helping clients make informed choices about the resource efficiency and performance of the homes they live in, sell, and buy. Help your clients distinguish fact from fiction and make educated decisions about the value of green features in homes.

NAR’s program is distinctly different compared to other, similar training programs in that it focuses largely on improving resource-efficiency in existing homes (as opposed to new home construction only), concentrates on building a foundational knowledge base about green issues, and offers objective and unbiased information.

How to earn NAR’s Green designation:

  • Successfully complete two one-day courses:
    • Green Day 1: The Resource-Efficient Home
    • Green Day 2: Representing Buyers and Sellers of Resource-Efficient Homes
  • Submission of application for NAR’s Green Designation
  • Active member in good standing in Green REsource Council and NAR (or NAR cooperating international association)

What is the cost of annual Green REsource Council membership?

Annual renewal is $98.50. Your membership begins upon completion of the two required courses, which includes one year of membership in the Green REsource Council. Your second year of membership—which begins one year after your completion of the two required courses—will be prorated through the end of the year. Your third year and thereafter will be $98.50, due at the end of the calendar year.

What are some of the benefits of earning NAR®’s Green Designation?
